One thing about having a child is that now there’s one more person you have to get dressed in the morning. Sometimes I’m barely awake enough to dress myself properly, let alone get Ellie all dolled up. What was Ellie wearing this morning? Purple diaper, orange/pink shirt, green bib. Please don’t gag when you visualize that.
What I love about denim is that it pretty much goes with ANYTHING. That’s why I spend most of the year in jeans (even back when I worked…that was bad.) Denim is also super gender neutral!
As someone who cloth diapers, I just realized how nice it would be if all her diapers looked like jeans. Then, no matter what diaper I threw on her, it would match her outfit. And, it’s more likely to be used if we ever have a little boy. Win win!
If you don’t cloth diaper, denim would make great bloomers or shorts to go over your disposable.
So, if you have a pair of jeans you can never wear again, now’s the time to salvage what you can and do some sewing. I actually had a WAHM make me a custom order for one. It actually was about the same price than if I tried to make it myself and it saved me that time from actually having to do it.
Here’s Ellie showing them off at a play date…
What other things have you seen or done with old denim?

This post is part of the (#freefromtrash) hosted by Calley, The Eco Chic, and is part of a one month challenge to create from trash. This challenge will hopefully open your eyes to the number of items that we still end up trashing every day that could be used by ourselves or our kids to create fun and useful items. To find out more about the challenge and to see other projects click on over to Calley’s announcement post.
