Took the three-hour drive back to my old stomping ground today to visit the ‘rents. Ellie does best in the a.m. so packing the car was a rush job. Probably should have done some of it yesterday, but I’m at least happy that I had the forethought to wash the dirty cloth diapers before leaving. That could have been mega gross and probably would not have made the hubs to happy to discover while I’m away.

Ellie was a champ for the car ride and I presume slept the whole way (based by the lack of squawking). I was surprised she didn’t get more restless after we got off the highway and hit detour after detour. What is it with New Jersey and their need to close multiple roads in the same area (and make so little progress over a long period of time)? Sorry, I digress.
The puppies, who came up with my mom after her last visit, were thrilled to see us coming. It was so cute to see them lined up at the fence ready to greet. Should have gotten a pick but was too distracted by need for bathroom.
We worked on Ellie’s sitting skills this afternoon. She’s slowly making progress in this area but mostly just wants to roll. There doesn’t seem to be much desire to stay stationary, unless heavily distracted by toys.
My mom offered to babysit and let my dad and I go out for some dinner. It’s nice to get out to eat without the constant entertaining and cleaning up of a baby. It’s almost not worth going out anymore in most cases.
We hit the small town of Hopewell only to find out that the majority of places were closed on Tuesdays. We ended up at the Blue Bottle Grill and it was actually really great, though a little pricey. Highly recommend if you’re ever in the area and looking for some delish eats.
Hoping the bean sleeps well tonight in the pack-and-play because my mom and I have big plans for tomorrow. Flea markets and outlets stores on the agenda. Fingers crossed for some good finds.

with all the storms and prolonged power outages i think the last year has been extra bad with NJ road detours; it definitely feels very poorly planed. ellie is such a cutie, your parents must be happy for your visit! if you’re ever in the area with some extra time i’d love to get together, catch up, meet ellie, rob, and your furry little ones
Sounds great!
yay!
